Meet the Principal

Welcome to Oak Elementary! My name is Jana Pierce, and I am proud to serve as the principal here at Oak. I was born and raised in Lebanon, and for the past 18 years, my family and I have called Albany home. I have three children who attend Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS), and I feel deeply connected to this community both as an educator and a parent.

This is my 20th year in education. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in many roles within GAPS—including substitute teacher, 2nd grade teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal. Each of these experiences has helped shape my belief in the power of strong relationships, collective efficacy, and high expectations for every student.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy reading, working on home projects, traveling with my husband and kids, and spending time with extended family.

Our staff is eager to welcome students and we look forward to a school year filled with learning, growth, and joyful moments!
